With more than 350,000 members, UNISON represents more education staff than any other trade union in the UK.
This gives us a powerful voice to campaign against inequalities, challenge unfair pay practices and speak out on issues that affect our working lives and the quality of public services.
UNISON education works hard to improve terms and conditions, highlighting issues that affect staff, ensuring workplaces are safe and making sure our members’ voices are heard.
We understand the issues you face – join the experts.
Who we represent
Education members include employees from schools and academies, further education colleges, universities, early years and children’s services, career services and more.
In Oldham, our branch officers with responsibilities for education visit schools (including academies) and colleges as part of the Joint Consultative Committees (JCC) where we negotiate around pay and policies that affect your employment. These meetings are a good opportunity for UNISON to influence policies and raise matters for discussion.
Stewards in Oldham schools
We have several active stewards in schools, helping to iron out issues and providing information to the UNISON members in their workplace. The stewards have the opportunity to attend a monthly meeting at the Branch to share good practice and ask advice. This has proved effective in resolving workplace issues.
Please consider becoming a steward or contact in your workplace – please contact Joanne Jennings, Lead Officer for Education to find out more.
